No. While there are many over-the-counter systems available to you which claim to be the same as medical microdermabrasion, it is not true. The most important difference is that medical microdermabrasion incorporates powerful suction. It is this combination of suction and gentle exfoliation that provides the maximum results.
Yes. Microdermabrasion is tolerated very well. If you have very sensitive skin, there may be a slight redness that can persist for a few hours. Most people enjoy the look of their skin right after treatments because of a "healthy glow."
It depends. You will see immediate results after your first treatment, however maximum benefits are achieved with a series of 6 treatments spaced one to two weeks apart.
Crystals are made of aluminum oxide and there are questions about the health risks of using these crystals - respiratory problems, eye irritation, and a possible link to Alzheimer's Disease.
By not using crystals, these health concerns are eliminated. Also treatments are less irritating and there is are no residual crystals in your hair, ears, or nose.
If you are being treated with a traditional machine that uses crystals, then the answer is NO. There are some health issues associated with the chronic use of these aluminum oxide crystals, which are most commonly used.
If you are using a crystal-free system, then there is no reason why so cannot continue to receive microdermabrasions throughout your pregnancy.
