Nasal Surgery – Rhinoplasty/Septoplasty

One of the most challenging surgeries that we perform as plastic surgeons, the "nose job" can produce a result that is elegant and natural without looking FIXED. Whether it is a dorsal hump or a wide and/or hanging tip, the nose may be refined and reshaped without being pinched, scooped, or turned up. If breathing problems exist, septal surgery can be performed simultaneously to correct the airway obstruction.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • The scars are hidden on the inside of the nostrils. Also, depending on the technique used, there may be a small scar placed in a well-hidden area underneath the nose.

  • Not necessarily. "Breaking the nose" refers to performing carefully planned cuts in the bones, or osteotomies, to help narrow the nose. Sometimes it is impossible to narrow your nose without performing these osteotomies.

  • Yes, if you suffer from nasal obstruction which is addressed during the surgery. If your breathing problems are the result of a deviated septum or enlarged tissue on the side of the nose, or turbinates, your surgeon can perform a procedure on the inside of your nose to alleviate your airway problems.

  • You may have packing inside your nose for 1 to 2 days. Also, you will have a small piece of plaster, or nasal splint, on the bridge of your nose for 1 week. After the splint is removed, your physician may place small pieces of tape over the bridge of your nose for an additional week to help reduce the swelling.

  • Yes. A minor procedure can be performed to reduce the size of your nostrils and the amount of nostril "flare". This can be done alone, or as part of a more extensive nasal procedure.
